The Universal Shunt Efficiency System (USES®) is a solid-state power conditioning and conservation system which reduces the electrical energy that must be supplied by the utility company to operate electrical loads. It also provides protection from voltage transient sags and surges, and protects against damaging power spikes from lightning.
USES® is manufactured in Connecticut. The manufacturer, USES MFG INC, originated as an electronic design and electrical contracting company in 1980. Development of the Universal Shunt Efficiency System progressed, evolving to become the premiere energy efficiency, conservation and protection system in existence today. Its proprietary and patented design has been validated through independent testing, industry certifications (UL, CSA, CE, GSA), and worldwide installation.
Being modular, USES® is scalable to any facility — from residential or single-phase 120/240 Volt commercial, to three-phase 208, 400, 480, and 600 Volt commercial and industrial power applications. These perform in both 50 Hz and 60 Hz environments, and can be configured for Wye and Delta distribution systems. All models feature the benefits of:
-
- Power factor correction
-
- Surge protection
-
- Voltage regulation
-
- Current reduction
-
- KiloWatt consumption reduction via power generation from each phase
-
- KiloWatt Demand reduction from magnetic phase balancing of voltage and current
-
- Harmonic distortion mitigation
-
- Increased equipment lifespan and improved equipment performance
-
- Safe to install with variable frequency drives and other control equipment
-
- Compatible with other power efficiency systems and power generation such as photovoltaic
-
- Long lifespan (20+ years) and short return on investment
-
- Maintenance-free
